Company

Cantine Francesco Montagna was among the first wine producing companies to be established in the Oltrepò Pavese area and since 1895 it has been transforming grapes into wine with increasing expertise and unchanged zeal. The wine estate boasts more than a century of history in Broni, the ancient village with a great winemaking tradition.

The new management

In 1974, the Bertè-Cordini family took over one of Oltrepò Pavese’s most historical wineries founded in 1895 by Francesco Montagna. The Bertè-Cordini family members, Natale, Mariella and Antonio, began a new chapter in the company but decided to keep the original name as a tribute to the founder. As time went on, family members Luca, Marzia and Matteo joined the company applying their knowledge they acquired during their studies and work experience. The company carries out a detailed oenological process from the wine growing to the winemaking in order to bring out the best quality while staying true to the natural characteristic of the grape.

Tradition

The family owns 15 hectares of vineyards located in the towns of Montù Beccaria and Zenevredo. The altitudes of each vineyard vary from 150 m asl to 280 m asl. The soil is mainly composed of marl with a good mixture of clay and limestone. The age of the vineyards vary from vines that were recently planted to vines that are 50 years old.
